Before I even left my zone I was lvl 20, and I like being a high level with my hero so I don't mind at all. Because the map is so big you won't meet any AI player until the 2nd month or later, so you have plenty of time to build your hero and army. Sometimes I prefer having a bit more chill games and so I play on easier difficulties like 100% or 130 %, but in my current game I'm playing at 160 % and it is still very chill. Also I realised it's a bit funnier if you start trying to rush the AI once your hero is strong enough and take the army losses, you can get more troops from capturing AI towns. But I have noticed it becomes a bit more enjoyable the bigger the map becomes because the AI then has time to build up their heroes.Ī recent game I had was with Shiva with Stronghold in a XH map in Hota, it didn't feel that different from a XL map as it didn't take that much extra time to finish as I would have thought. It has felt like the late game is barely there since I dominate too much in mid game and basically roll over the AI in the late game. So something I have felt has been missing from my games is a fun late game.
